Best trail cameras of 2026

Six current cellular and SD-card cameras, ranked by use case. Specs come from the maker; strengths and gripes come from independent field tests, each one linked.

How this list was made: DYLIO has not field-tested these cameras yet. This v1 ranking is our editorial read of published independent tests (Field & Stream, TechGearLab, Wirecutter, TrailCamPro, Digital Camera World) plus manufacturer specs. No DYLIO score is shown until we run our own tests. Read the methodology. Prices are snapshots from the linked seller on October 21, 2026 and will change.

DYLIO field score: pending our own testing

Why it ranks here

  • Wirecutter top pick (updated Aug 20, 2026), citing image quality, easy setup, reliability and a two-year warranty.
  • TechGearLab "Best Overall Non-Cellular" with the highest overall score in its test (85/100).
  • Digital Camera World "Best overall" in its 2026 guide.

Watch-outs

  • No remote/cellular access; you pull the card (TechGearLab).
  • Narrow 50° field of view (TechGearLab).
  • Digital Camera World lists 4K at 20fps and found fast action can look choppy; Bushnell's manual says 30fps. We flag the conflict rather than pick one.

How to pick a trail camera

Cellular or SD card? Cellular cams send photos to your phone so you stay out of the woods, but they need a data plan (SPYPOINT's FLEX-M2 includes 100 free photos a month). SD-card cams like the Bushnell CORE S-4K have no monthly fee but you have to walk in to pull the card.

No-glow vs low-glow. No-glow (940nm) IR is invisible to people and less likely to spook game; low-glow usually reaches farther at night. The Tactacam REVEAL Pro 4.0 lets you switch between the two.

Batteries add up. Counts range from 6 AAs (Bushnell) to 16 (Stealth Cam). Solar or rechargeable packs, like the Moultrie EDGE 4 Solar's built-in panel, cut trips and cost.

Megapixels are marketing. Several cameras interpolate their top resolution. Independent tests (linked above) are a better guide to real image quality.
