DYLIO FIELD NOTES · A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT
Pick the place, then make the plan.
Choose a campground that fits the trip you want. Check its official page for access, check-in details, site amenities, and current notices. A campsite with basic facilities can make a first weekend easier to organize.
Know what your site includes.
Confirm whether water, toilets, picnic tables, and parking are available. Check the site size and equipment restrictions before booking. Use Recreation.gov or the managing agency for current availability and details.
Build your packing list around systems.
Group equipment by sleep, food, water, clothing, lighting, and camp organization. Check that each item works before packing it. Put the equipment you will need first where you can reach it.
Simplify the menu.
Plan familiar meals, measure ingredients at home, and organize food by meal. Confirm food storage requirements with the campground and plan how you will pack out waste.
Leave yourself room to enjoy it.
Aim to arrive with enough time to find the site and set up before dark. Recheck weather and land-manager notices before leaving. Save your packing list afterward and change only what the trip taught you.
