FALL 2026 & SPRING 2027
Three turkey zones
Gobblers only: one per day, four across fall and spring. Fall hunting is limited to Zone 3: Clarke, Clay, Covington, Monroe, Randolph and Talladega. Fall decoys are prohibited; spring decoys are allowed.
Spring opens March 20 in Zones 1 and 3, and March 27 in Zone 2; all end May 3, 2027. Cullman crosses Zones 1 and 2: use the official lake, road 437 and I-65 boundary. Select the correct zone in the finder.

WMA & National Forest schedules
Bankhead Ranger District and the listed north Alabama WMAs/CHAs use March 27–May 3, with youth March 20 and disabled March 26. Other listed National Forest districts and WMAs allowing turkey use March 20–May 3, youth March 13 and disabled March 19. These hunts close at 1 p.m. Additional ranger-district and WMA bag limits apply; confirm the exact AREA permit.

BEFORE YOU GO
Licenses, permits & harvest reporting
- Check your hunting license, hunter education, age/residency exemptions, legal equipment and local shooting hours with ADCNR. Get landowner permission.
- WMAs require their own current AREA permit and check-in/check-out; license and daily permit requirements vary. SOA and other quota hunts have selected dates and authorizations.
- Record turkey harvest immediately and Game Check within 48 hours. Fall and spring share the four-gobbler limit.
- Special disabled days require confirmation of approval and documentation. Public turkey hunts close at 1 p.m.; WMA and National Forest Ranger District dates and bag sublimits differ.
